After a record amount of time (two weeks) the burn ban had been lifted.
The fire rating is teeter tottering and the edge, Some rain and calm winds could bring it down to Medium. If we don’t get the rains they predict, it very well could get back into the Very High as soon as tomorrow. That being said, even with rain the FWI (fire weather index) could raise if we don’t receive enough rain. What we need is one of those “all night soakers”
If you do get a permit to burn and decide to do so, please use great caution! Your yard is probably as brown as you have ever seen it. If you sprinkle water on it for a half hour it will still be dry and brown tomorrow. Fine Fuels absorb moisture quickly, and just as fast as they absorb the moisture they evaporate it.
Please be safe! With all of your help Solon has only responded to four “grass fires” so far this year. That is an incredible feat considering the weather we have been have. Smokey Bear is proud of you all.
